SOFT CET - School of Fashion Technology Common Entrance Test

SOFT CET 2022 registrations for next round of admissions is underway and the exam is supposed to held in the month of June. Candidates can fill the enquiry form, after which they will receive the application form via email. After filling the registration form, the exam date and guidelines will be sent to the candidates by mail. The results of the first phase of the admissions were declared by School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) on March 2 and the merit list for each programme was uploaded on the website. The School of Fashion Technology conducted the SOFT CET exam for the first phase of admission on February 17, 18 and 19, 2022. 

Established in 1998, the School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) conducts CET to offer admission to aspirants in undergraduate programmes on offer by the design college. SOFT also offers diploma and PG diploma design programmes to candidates. However, admission in these programmes is done on the basis of candidates' performance in the portfolio and interview round only. Located in Pune, SOFT conducts the Common Entrance Test (CET) in the online mode to shortlist candidates for admissions in BDes, diploma, and MDes programmes.

Candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps to take part in the admission cycle of SOFT CET 2022.

Step 1: Apply for SOFT CET

• Candidates need to visit the official website of the exam in order to register for it.
• The SOFT CET application forms are available on the website only.
• The application process for SOFT CET would be complete only after the aspirant completes his/her CET registration process and pays the application fee which is INR 4,000 (for all the categories).
• Make note that the fee is non-refundable and non-negotiable

Step 2: Select SOFT CET Time Slot

• Once the registrations for CET 2022 are complete, aspirants need to select the time slot for their online entrance test.
• The SOFT CET slots are mentioned in the admission calendar, each year.
• The candidate has to appear for the design aptitude exam on the selected date only. The dates will not be changed under any circumstances.

Step 3: Appear for SOFT CET Exam

• The examination for both levels will be conducted in online mode only
• Candidate is allowed only one attempt of the CET if they wish to appear again they need to pay the application fee again
• Candidates are informed that logins in the SOFT online exam are accepted latest till 10:20 am in respective shifts of the exam. However, the logout time for each candidate will stay the same.

The official website of SOFT CET informs: “In case if there is a power failure or internet connection failure, the candidate can appear for the next schedule/shift. In this case, the candidate will have to inform the SOFT administration about the same within 30 minutes. Then only the candidate can again log in for the test in the next shift. That time the candidate will be provided only with the balance questions from the online test. It is not necessary to give the entire test once again”.

Step 4: Appear for Studio Test/Group Discussion & Personal Interview Round

After passing the SOFT online test, candidates must proceed to the next level, which includes a studio test, a group discussion, and a personal interview. It should be noted that all SOFT CET rounds will be held on the same day.

Step 5: Check SOFT CET Results

Aspirants could verify their SOFT CET 2022 results on the design school's official website once SOFT has finished all of the admission rounds. Candidates who make it to the SOFT CET merit list must confirm their admission through email and pay the admission fee after that.

SOFT CET Eligibility Criteria for BDesign Courses

(Affiliated to SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai)

To secure admission in the BDes course offered at SOFT, aspirants need to fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

• Cleared Class XII from any stream, like – Arts/Commerce/Science/Home Science/ Minimum Competency Vocational Course (MCVC) including National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
• Possess Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE)/State Govt. Technical Education full-time diploma (minimum 2 years) after Class X.

NRI and Foreign students can apply if they possess an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

SOFT CET Eligibility for Diploma Programme

Aspirants can apply for admission under this course if they have cleared Class XII in any stream including the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

SOFT CET Eligibility for MDesign Programmes

The eligibility criteria for the MDes course offered at SOFT Pune states that a candidate should be a Fashion Design graduate in order to take the entrance exam to secure admission in a PG level design course. 

SOFT CET Eligibility for PG Diploma Programmes

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for PG diploma programmes offered through the SOFT CET exam if they have completed their graduation.

UG and PG programmes offered by means of School of Fashion Technology, Pune admission process is as mentioned below:

The official website informs, "The online test, the studio test and the personal interview of the candidate will be conducted in the premises of SOFT as per the date chosen by the candidate."

Note: All three tests (online test, studio test, and personal interview) will be conducted on a single day.

SOFT CET 2022 Syllabus is not set or provided by the MKSSS as such. However, by studying sample tests and last years’ papers for CET conducted by SOFT. SOFT CET 2022 exam dates - The School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) will release the admission schedule for the next round of admissions. The SOFT CET 2022 enquiry form is currently open and candidates can fill the form from March 15 onwards on the official website. SOFT CET 2022 Application Form: The registration window for the design aptitude test is usually of a month. Here, candidates are required to visit the official website in order to access the application form of SOFT CET. For this session, the registration fee is INR 4000 for all the categories and programmes. 

SOFT CET 2022 Admit Card/ Hall Ticket: Once the candidate submits their form successfully, they can visit their CET's account to select a suitable time slot to appear for the examination. The authorities do not issue any such document. But, they do notify the candidate about the date, time and venue with dos and don't for the examination on the email ID provided at the time of registration.

SOFT CET Exam Pattern: The design aptitude test is conducted in online mode for all the programmes (UG and PG). Candidates qualifying the entrance exam are then required to appear for the Studio Test followed by a Personal Interview, showcasing the portfolio and finally give a Statement of Purpose. SOFT CET 2022 Results: The results are released in the form of a merit list. The same is declared on the MKSSS's SOFT official website (www.soft.ac.in).
